Featuring Dizzy Gillespie, James "Trummy" Young, Johnny Bothwell, Serge Chaloff and Shelly Manne, Boyd Raeburn tries to take a page or two from Georgie Auld at the time. ;)
Hep records of England has released this recording on CD, and it is powerful stuff. You barely get a sense of it here, but that brass section is just kickin" . Boyd never became popular, but recorded for a nitch group that was more far more discriminating then the Glenn Miller crowd, and had some really fine players to work with. Here: Dodo Marmarosa-- fantastic arranger (later to work piano with Shaw), Willy Schwartz (played lead cl. for Miller), Zeke Zarchey (trpt for Goodman). A++ stuff!
