[UPDATE 12.2011: I have been told these antennas are likely to be part of a now-aborted plan to blanket SF in public WiFi, which is in the same RF microwave range of frequencies. I don't have any further info.] These two small RF antennas are crudely painted to match the decor of this store front, but this high frequency analyzer easily detect high levels of radio-frequency radiation coming off them, bathing the sidewalk below in emissions. RF is now classified as a class 2B carcinogen by the World Health Organization. The FCC says it's okay for you to get about 600 µW/cm2 for 30 minutes. These standards are over a half-century old, and are considered by many scientists and public health professionals to be far from sufficiently protective of human health. See links below. This HF analyzer has two (2) attenuators (silver) on the antenna, changing the read-out by making it less sensitive by a factor of 10,000, changing it from microwatts per square meter (as sold) to microwatts per square centimeter.
Thanks for bring this into my awareness. Nothing like a little camouflage to hide the blaster.
I was in an elevator the other day with 3 or 4 people, all using cells. I read where using a cell in a car was worst than outside b/c of the Faraday Cage effect, so I wondered about the elevator. I would love to see your cell readings in a car and an elevator vs outside. And what are the readings when 2 or 3 people are in a car or elevator, all using cells?

@60srock Hey, that is an excellent idea. I have done Bart train cars (coming soon) but a car and an elevator would both be good examples to show.
