Oh, ok. I get it now. I was using the Pattern Stamp tool rather than the Clone Stamp. Why do you 'sample' something with Alt-click if what's under the cross is going to duplicate wherever the mouse pointer/brush is?
Thank you! You explained it very clearly. But when I do that, Alt-click on a white area, it immediately lays down a dark spot - and if I click somewhere else that I wanted to cover with the white area, and move around,it covers it with what looks like stones - I have no idea where that came from...maybe some kind of sample in Photoshop database somewhere. How do I correct this?
Thanks! You're clear, but when I click on the Clone tool, get my brush, hold down the Alt key & click on the solid blue trash can that I want as the source of my clone. I then click, hold down my mouse, get the circle & plus sign close togetrher, let go of my mouse, and end up drawing a duplicate. So, for example, if I move the tool outside of the trash can by mistake onto the black rug, I will get a line of black rug in the new place. What am I doing wrong? Hope you can help!
AHHH brillant! thank you so much...I actually came acrossed this video after looking at another tutorial of yours on vignette...your girls are really cute. Im trying to get the "natural vignette" look for some portrait photography Im doing... do you have a video on this? thanks for any feedback :)

You need to resample every so often.

Again, you need to clone on a separate layer, it has multiple advantages as I already pointed out in one of my comments on one of your other videos.
