This is my rendition of The Dance Of Maya by John McLaughlin, recorded on a AW1600 workstation I just got today. This is my first recording with the AW1600 and my first YouTube video. The guitar is a 1975 Electra Les Paul Custom "Super Rock" model and I hand-built all the guitar effects myself.

The guitar effects I use on this clip are the Phase 45 phase shifter, the Umble preamp, and the AMZ MOSFET booster.

The Dance of Maya was first recorded by the seminal jazz fusion band Mahavishnu Orchestra on their 1972 album "The Inner Mounting Flame"

If you have high speed Internet you can hear it in better sound quality & picture quality by using this link and watch it in full screen mode

I also found an accurate guitar tablature to The Dance Of Maya it is located here

  • You might consider re-mixing it and normalize the levels on the tracks for a balanced overall output.

  • Yes you are correct. This was the very first video I created for YouTube more than a year ago when I first bought the recording studio. I knew nothing about mixing then.

    Thanks for listening

  • Hey I was wondering do you think you could make a phaser that sounds just like the old Maestro?

  • Sure if you know how to build effects and can find the schematic. I think I have seen one somewhere but I don't recall exactly.

  • So you're using the Phase 45 here? Did you actually build this one yourself then?

  • Yes, I am using the Phase 45 here, that I built myself from parts. I build almost all the effects I use on my recordings, unless it is a vintage effect from the 60's or 70's that I happen to already own. You can check out my other videos on the Phase 45 and I also have a series on how how to build your own effects pedals.
