I havent seen anyone else state this point.....but the audience reactions probably were one reason this show lasted as long as it did....

@junedeon Yes. He didn't last very long on that show, although, in his defense, it would have been hard for anyone to replace Don Knotts.

It's stupid to say that he had multiple personality disorder and that this was an example of it. People who really have multiple personality disorder do not have this much control over it.
