Dash cam video from a wildland attack fire truck while fighting a wheat field fire north of Palouse, WA. For those that are wondering, the fire is being extinguished by a firefighter operating a handline from the back of the truck.

  • Look at all the wheat you just ruined by driving over it. Take the the shortest route to the fire and stay in the black. That is money the farmer looses when you drive on his crop.

  • Thanks for the comments, but, with all due respect, I don't follow your conclusions. I'm not sure what you seeing that makes you think we're running over a bunch of wheat. Except for making a few turns outside of the burn area, the fire was fought completely from the black as is the general rule. I can assure you that very little standing crop was run over in this operation.

  • where is this

  • Southeastern Washington State.

  • @mbagott haha ooo ya, those wheat fires scare the shit out of you when the lite lol

  • @thefarminkid8760 The video doesn't show it very well, but there was a tractor with a disc working with us. Like you, nothing makes me happier than seeing a disc arrive at a field fire; it makes our job a whole lot easier.

  • Started by the combine? We have had good luck preventing restarts in grain fires using Med Expansion Foam Tubes.

  • Good job fought just like we would have here in KS. Good thing the wind was blowing at 20 or higher you would have been there a lot longer. Stay safe!

  • It's burnt wheat now and no real way to get it off the ground. The farmers will run over thier own wheat with a disc or plow to try to make a fire break anyway. Not sure how else you would do it?? Good job and good video wcfd4!!! Its also how its done in south whitman county.

  • really good video, we were camping out by lake cle elum the weekend before labor day weekend and there was a fire on the otherside of the mountain from us, woke up one morning to smokey mountains.
