  • Good advice Mike, but how can you prevent it?, Is it just "being aware" or does the book discusses ways to get your motivation back?

  • @vdunown The #1 is to just be aware. If you are aware of what you're doing, you will not jump on another project so easily and quit the current one. Secondly, if you want to know about how to focus more, what have helped me big time is that I gave up Facebook. I kept twitter but I gave up Facebook. This allowed me to focus and not have another distraction. Each time I wanted to check facebook, it reminded me to focus on my project I needed to complete.

  • order posted for the book bro... awesome to be ur follower... u are doing a gr8 job mike.. keep it up

  • @parryprk Thank you for supporting and valuing my work. Truly means a lot. Glad I can inspire.

  • Yea that was me up till a few months back till I really became aware that was making excuses for myself. I don't wanna be that guy so I started digging my heels in with Web Design. And I just do my daily tutorials and books on CSS etc. I don't have as much time as I would like and end up staying up till 3-4am on the pc, and my Daughter has me up real early too ha. Right now were all living off my Girlfriends wage and I hate it. I have a lot riding on Web Design as I want to be out providing.

  • @fraserdonaldmcgregor Bro, I love the passion. Keep grinding as you say, keep digging in. Keep learning. Another advice for you (which I will make a video on this as well), figure out your end short term goal, is it to get web design clients? or is it to get a web design job. The reason I say this is because your preparation on your portfolio should be tailored to one or the other. I personally say focus on landing a design job first, clients will always come and will come later.

  • thank you for the video! I have just watched it when I needed it.

  • i want to share with you an equally good book

it's called the war of art - Steven Pressfield (not to be confused with the art of war)

  • ...by the way, how many people are watching this video when you *should* be working on something else? (Is that irony?) ;D

  • Great advice, thank you. This points out the bad habit I have of saying "yes" to people who ask me to do projects. (People-pleaser? Perhaps. Really I just love what I do...)

The tricky part is justifying why you're putting them off for another project. From their perspective you're focusing on something that is not nearly as important as what they have to offer. But for the sake of my family, my other projects, and my own sanity, I've got to say "sorry I can't!"

  • OMG! I frequently have Project Plateau. I'm going to get this book! I'm The Creative Lady and I'm a Serial Procrastinator!

  • I want to let you know that i appreciate your energy and style. I stumbled across your videos a few days ago, and very interested in learning about web design. Question? Can i start your course without any prior knowledge in web design. Or... is there another place to begin laying a foundation?

  • HAHAHAHAHA so simple and so true...

  • Great tip - I think procrastination is a sign of the artist in everyone - when the idea is exposed it's time to move on - but without getting the profit from the original idea it's worthless...

  • Thanks Mike!

  • you didn't mention your online training? I was expecting the normal nag of "buy my ..." It wouldn't have bothered me though, bc I've been watching your videos for a couple years now and I think you deserve a million people buying that training. :) I'm horrible at procrastinating, so this video was definitely needed! Thanks!
