  • Man, i grew up in Dayton, this looks just like Dayton. In live in NC now. Sad thing is, historical homes are very beautiful. I live in one now in a neighborhood that used to be run down just like that one, until people like me got smart, bought the property cheap, restored it and now have a huge home, PAID FOR, no mortgage. Unless these homes have irrepairable structural damage, i dont see any reason why these homes cannot be restored

Unfortunately, Dayton and Toledo have much in common and squalor is one similarity. The industrial base of both cities has been gutted during the past several decades. Toledo does have a competitive advantage with it's proximity to the Great Lakes shipping lanes.

  • Wade, what rock do you live underneath? There have been almost 100 vacant homes destroyed via arson in Toledo during 2010. Watch the Lagrange videos...siding is stripped off several homes.

  • EdM, there already are plenty of Mexicans in that area.

  • What do you expect with the number of critters of all races holing up in the east side?

These friggin' people rip off landlords as a way of life. When you have people that are too stupid to know where to throw their garbage you will have this.

  • I HAD MY HEAVY ASS LEATHER COUCH STOLEN FROM MY ROOF DURING CONSTRUCTION. IT TOOK 4 OF US TO EVEN GET IT UP THE STEPS.. IF I WAS NOT IN TOLEDO, I WOULD HAVE BLAMED NINJAS.

  • Sad to think that the unkindness of other people and lack of respect for eachother causes shit like this to happen some of those neighborhoods used to be so decent, my friend lived there and now lives in florida and i moved from philadelphia and there are places like this and some are way worse, people get shot at in broad daylight over the dumbest things it's tragic, people start to put bars on windows and it just starts rolling down hill.

  • this doesn't look anything like detroit though...

  • Sorry not a Dump someone throwing rock though windows and snowball at cars you A__ is part of the problem. Show me a area that isn't having problem. Sorry, but been here 31 years love, my home take dam good care of it and so do Most of my Awesome neighbors. Sorry this was ment for the rock thougher

  • I grew up in that neighborhood throwing rocks through windows & snowballs at cars while walking to Franklin & Waite. I never realized what a dump it was till I moved. Parents still live there so I have to go back every year. Gets worse every time.

  • these houses are probably worth what they went for in the 50s.

  • I'm living in Phoenix, az. You passed by the Rite

Aid where my apartment building was in the 60s. The unit I lived in on fourth and Euclid and the old Franklin School. I also lived on Green wood in two places between Main and East Broadway.. It wasn't great in the 1970s....it's worse now.

  • I was raised on the East Side, just moved from 4th Street after living there for 10 yrs. Sadly, the East Side is just terrible. No side of town is great but some are better than others. At least now I don't have to worry as much about my children's safety and that of our home. However, I'll always be proud to be not only from there but also from Toledo!

  • The reason is simple. When the home owners are relying on tenants to pay the note then the tenants cant pay and wait as long as possible to move (until the courts get to there case) usually puts the owner 3-5 months behind. The owner obviously dosnt want to lost there house so what happens? Well this guys video shows you. And that rite aid has been there for 20 plus years. Franklin was supposed to be a school for learning disabled kids after all the east schools got rebuilt except Franklin.
