I recently lost my pet rat to lung cancer. Rats are one of the best pets on earth and if people would give them a chance, they wouldn't be snake food. Thumbs up if you're against stereotyping of rats.

I lost both mine... they were amazing pets. my first 1 I got climbed his cage walls and would love to be held. he would squeak if you didn't! he would climb down my shirt and fall asleep 2! x) I miss him

We had a rat that had a very big tumor. We took him to rat-smart vet in our area. $100.00 and one day later we had a healthy rat. who died of old age later on. Do you have a good rat-vet? Also I keep hearing about rats and resveretrol...on increasing longevity of rats in labs. Has anybody tried this very, very very good idea out on pet rats?

ive had dozens of rats and you couldnt ask for easier, more loving, or downright cuter pets. i do prefer males, just because they dont get tumors as bad as females. most of my females have gone that way and it isnt pretty. but i love them all the same. they are all little ratskulls and squishy fuzzy butts. funny thing is i thought they were gross til i was around them and i fell in love. amazing animals...

@Tunnelfish I got my rattys from a feeder store as babys. I saved them from being rat food. They make amazing pets.
