My wife and I recently went to visit the location where the 1987 film "Bagdad Cafe" was filmed. I have loved the film since I first saw it. I put together photos taken that day with stills from the film to make this little tribute.

I LOVE this movie! There's a certain feel to it that has me watching it over and over again. We stopped by the cafe on our Route 66 to Tombstone trip. I definitely want to stop by again. I didn't notice the camper trailer still there. I know the motel part was already gone. When did you visit?

We visited about two years ago. The motel rooms were pretty run down, but still there, as were a couple of old trailers, similar to the one in the film.

It's only about a 40 minute drive from where we live and we do hope to visit it again soon.

    1. The movie has wit, and moments of drama and sadness . . . just like life.

    2. It takes place at a small restaurant/motel not far from Bagdad, California, off of I-40, east of Barstow, CA.

    3. See previous answer.

    4. The film ends on an uplifting and life affirming note, after all the emotion and drama.

I've been haunted by this song since I first saw this movie years ago. I just rented it again.

It's a great little gem of a movie, unfortunately, not everyone will "get it".

it just proves you don't need a lot of special effects, blistering dialogue, or even a big box office star (no offense to the actors in this flick) to present a thought provoking and entertaining movie.

I plan on having breakfast there someday.

It's humorous for sure! A middle aged woman leaves her husband, suitcase in tow, and, gets out at a Cafe where she makes friends, and works. Jack Palance plays an artist living in a trailer. He paints the rubenesque actress in descending forms of undress as the movie moves on. A movie with many aspects to true life I'll never forget it.

I've been there. Andrea Pruett is a sweet lady. I have to go see her again. The film is a feel good story.

Near the top of the list of my favorite movies. Never been to the Sidewinder, but have been through the area a few times; back-packed from coast to coast in '76! So cool that you went; I would love to go there, too. This film really captures the spirit of the road, though the story takes place in one location.
