A rendition of the piano accompaniment for the song "Corner of the Sky" from the musical "Pippin" by Stephen Schwartz including all 3 versus!

I have tired hard to capture a good performance! I, know there are some bum notes and the tempo flags a bit in the third verse. That's why it's free! :)

PS This is an interesting an unusual accompaniment in that it does not echo the melody line so you'll need to be familiar with the song should you wish to join in!

Lyrics:
Everything has its season
Everything has its time
Show me a reason and I'll soon show you a rhyme
Cats fit on the windowsill
Children fit in the snow
Why do I feel I don't fit in anywhere I go?

Rivers belong where they can ramble
Eagles belong where they can fly
I've got to be where my spirit can run free
Got to find my corner of the sky

Every man has his daydreams
Every man has his goal
People like the way dreams have
Of sticking to the soul
Thunderclouds have their lightning
Nightingales have their song
And don't you see I want my life to be
Something more than long....

Rivers belong where they can ramble
Eagles belong where they can fly
I've got to be where my spirit can run free
Got to find my corner of the sky

So many men seem destined
To settle for something small
But I won't rest until I know I'll have it all
So don't ask where I'm going
Just listen when I'm gone
And far away you'll hear me singing
Softly to the dawn:

Rivers belong where they can ramble
Eagles belong where they can fly
I've got to be where my spirit can run free
Got to find my corner of the sky

  • @es76 is there a chance you can upload it as a pdf for us somewhere? you would pretty much make my day if you did.

  • amazing. please get the sheet music for magic to do and have a tutorial on how to play it please :)

  • You know, Stephen Schwartz (the composer of Pippin) actually played the beginning and end faster than the rest of the song so.... ya. And I actually like that the octaves switched sometimes. It added differerent depths for the different emotions in the piece. I agree, though; it is very well done. GREAT Job!

  • Love this song so uplifting I enjoyed sing ing it with your accompaniment.x

  • my mom used to play this; very reminiscent, thank you.

  • I can sing this song.
