this is an odd set up for a range...are you actually shooting into a valley?

Well, yes, it's a valley of sorts. This area is just for blasting away, as you can tell by my haphazard shooting style! They call this area "the pit". It's an old strip mined area and the hills are slag heaps. You throw junk down there and shoot at it! Great fun.
This range has a "real" 50-75-100 yd. rifle range as well, as well as separate pistol and shotgun ranges. Nice, laid-back public range. Buffalo Range, Ottawa, Illinois
