  • God how quickly we forget things. Letterman was the first of the TV "funny men" to return to the airwaves. He's a New Yorker so he sure had an emotional connection to what happened down the street from his home. He's also a left winger, like Jon Stewart, and now 8 years later (God it seems like a life time ago) we've still got people on the right saying that liberals are against national defense if we disagree with former president Bush. We on the left were just as hurt by what happened.

  • Touching. You can hear the shaking in his voice.. USA, we got your back, condolences from Denmark. Sorry for the spelling.

  • The greatest city in the world indeed - and I'm going very soon from England. Love you New York.

  • "We're told that they were zealots fueled by religious fervour...and if you live to be a thousand years old will that make any sense to you? Will that make any goddamn sense?"

  • It was a time we were all united in grief and put everything aside for even just a short time.. We should of learned from that moment in our history, it is a shame that in some ways, we only became worse and more intolerant..

  • I don't care if you find him funny or not (I do) but this is why Letterman is one of our greatest broadcasters ever.

  • @cfhpantera1 so

  • Kids who are learning about 9/11 will learn as much from this video as from any footage of the actual attacks. If you weren't there on the day, the attacks look like special effects from a movie. But Dave's sincerity and emotion really strike home what it felt like to be an American reeling from the new experience of an attack on our home ground.

  • Major class...no doubt abotu it.

  • @1rle ok so let 3000 people die and not do anything about it...thats seems like an ok idea...just thinks about their families..

  • I'm not a fan of commenting simply by quoting someone in the video, but I have to second what Letterman said about our police officers, firefighters, and I'll include all other EMTs: "Never, ever take these people for granted".
