Ingredients:

Pork Filling:
3 pounds pork butt (shoulder)
1 teaspoon salt
16 ounces canned tomatoes
1/2 small onion
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 to 3/4 cup mashed poratoes

Masa:
3 cups masa harina
2 1/2 cups water
1 cup corn oil

Curtido:
1/2 medium cabbage
1 carrot
1/2 small red onion
2 cups water
2 cups cider vinegar
1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano
1 teaspoon red chili flakes
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 red bell pepper

    I may have not made these EXACTLY the proper way, but let me tell you they tasted excellent.

    The curtido was extremely good and it all was good.

    The cabbage is called Curtido, if my spelling is correct.

  • Don't listen to any of these people. They make Salvadorian people look like rude and cruel people. Any respect I had for them is completely gone. Anyway great dish :)

  • Pupusas are my favorite food ever. My mother has made me these since before I can remember so maybe age 2. She is from El Salvador as so is my father and I swear the ones she makes are past perfect.
