    Bats do have eyes - and they use their vision a lot.

    Listen to the sound - I think these bats stop echo-location sometimes, but continue flying. That suggests they are familiar with the flight-path and relying on sight, not sound echo. Calling to echo-locate requires a lot of effort, so less calling would make sense, to save energy.
