  • I am a volunteer fire fighter in Clarksville and I will never forget this day. My truck personally got 8 people out of their cars on Lewis and Clark parkway. The manholes were turning into geysers. I have never seen anything like it. Also the lightning was so bad. We were standing in waste deep water with lightning flashing over our heads. It was wild!

  • Thanks so much for your service. It was all over the news how you guys were rescuing people all day.

  • man that is some nasteh rain. where were yall going when this happened? or were you just driving to show the video? i'd hate to be driving when that hail started coming down.

  • I was headed to work. wasn't worried about the hail too much I was in a company car.

  • He said 6 inches of "flood rain"... I believe that is a different measurement than the regular rain gauge type measurement. Check me on that if you want.

  • Listen between 7:00 and 7:23

He says between 3 and 6 plus inches.

At one point the NWS recorded rain falling at a rate of 8.8 inches an hour for a brief period.

Believe me, this is all that was on the news for 3 days.

  • My bad. 3:26 that is.

  • Van Hagar at 26 secs. Let's go to Amsterdam.

  • irene!

  • This was a potent high precipitation supercell with broad rotation. Thankfully it didn't produce a tornado, but I guess the flash flooding was much worse than a tornado. If you look at radar loops of this cell you see it in southern Indiana moving in more of a southwesterly fashion but then it spins up and makes a right turn directly into Louisville Metro.
