1985 (Amsterdam Concertgebouw)

Shirley Bassey opened the renewed Concertgebouw in Amsterdam in 1985, which was five years after her famous concert there

LYRICS - I Am What I Am:
I am what I am
I am my own special creation
So come take a look
Give me the hook or the ovation
It's my world
That I want to have a little pride in
My world
And it's not a place I have to hide in
Life's not worth a damn
Till you can say
I am what I am

I am what I am
I don't want praise I don't want pity
I bang my own drum
Some think it's noise I think it's pretty
And so what if I love each sparkle and each bangle
Why not try to see things from a different angle
Your life is a sham
Till you can shout out
I am what I am

I am what I am
And what I am needs no excuses
I deal my own deck
Sometimes the aces sometimes the deuces
It's one life and there's no return and no deposit
One life so it's time to open up your closet
Life's not worth a damn till you can shout out
I am what I am

LYRICS - Something:
Something in the way he moves
Attracts me like no other lover
Something in the way he moves me
I don't want to leave him now
You know I believe in how
Somewhere in his smile he knows
That I don't need no other lover
Something in his style that shows me
Don't want to leave him now
You know I believe in how
You're asking me will our love grow
I don't know, I don't know
You stick around now it may show
I don't know, I don't know
Something in the way he moves
And all I have to do is think of him
Something in the things he shows me
I don't want to leave him now
You know I believe in how
You're asking me will our love grow
I don't know, I don't know
You stick around now it may show
I don't know, I don't know
Something in the way he moves
Something in the way he knows
Something in the way he smiles
Something in the way he moves
Something in the way he smiles
Something

LYRICS - This Is My Life:
Funny how a lonely day, can make a person say:
What good is my life
Funny how a breaking heart, can make me start to say:
What good is my life
Funny how I often seem,
to think I'll find never another dream In my life
Till I look around and see,
this great big world is part of me
And my life
This is my life
Today, tomorrow, love will come and find me
But that's the way that I was born to be
This is me
This is me

This is my life
And I don't give a damn for lost emotions
I've such a lot of love I've got to give
Let me live
Let me live

Sometime when I feel afraid,
I think of what a mess I've made Of my life
Crying over my mistakes,
forgetting all the breaks I've had
In my life
I was put on earth to be,
a part of this great world is me
And my life
Guess I'll just add up the score,
and count the things I'm grateful for
In my life
This Is my life
Today, tomorrow, love will come and find me
But that's the way that I was born to be
This is me
This is me

This is my life
And I don't give a damn for lost emotions
I've such a lot of love I've got to give
Let me live
Let me live

This is my life
This is my life
This is my life

ABOUT the Concertgebouw:
The Concertgebouw is a concert hall in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The Dutch term "concertgebouw" literally translates into English as "concert building". Because of its highly regarded acoustics, the Concertgebouw is considered one of the finest concert halls in the world, along with places such as Boston's Symphony Hall and the Musikverein in Vienna.

The architect of the building was Adolf Leonard van Gendt, who was inspired by the Neue Gewandhaus in Leipzig, built two years earlier (and destroyed in 1943).

Construction began in 1883 in a pasture that was then outside the city, in Nieuwer-Amstel, a municipality that in 1964 became Amstelveen. 2,186 piles twelve to thirteen meters (forty to forty-three feet) in length were sunk into the soil.

The Concertgebouw, with its incomparable acoustics, exciting programming and attractive neo-classical architecture, has long stood at the centre of Amsterdam\'s vibrant musical life. The acoustics in particular have established the hall as a favourite of acclaimed conductors, orchestras and soloists over the years. Bernard Haitink, Long time principal conductor and conductor laureate of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, is said to have once described it as the best instrument in the orchestra that it houses.

A pleasure for musicians, the hall's unique qualities have not gone lost on audiences either. With over 850,000 visitors at ca. 800 events a year, it is the second most-visited concert hall in the world.
