  • Ryuichy Sakamato the last emperor of music

  • The lead vocals on this song is by Bernard Fowler. Bernard Fowler's experience has spanned all genres of music ranging from gospel, rock, R&B, jazz, funk to latin.

  • @NevskyP

Even without the added MJ lyrics, Sakamoto's 1986 version already sounds way too different from his original 1978-79 version. This should be obvious from the fact that his 1986-87 version is almost completely acoustic rock, whereas his original versions were entirely electronic synth-pop. From all the cover versions of "Behind the Mask" released, it's quite ironic that it was the original writer's own cover version that sounds the most different from the original version.

  • @vodude

That "Japanese dude" is the original writer of the song, Ryuichi Sakamoto. Along with his band YMO, he originally produced the song in 1978 and officially released it in 1979. The version in this video is a 1987 cover version of his own song.

  • I always loved Clapton's version but I gotta say, and this is coming from a BIG Clapton fan, this sounds just as good, if not better, to me. This Japanese dude really know how to rock!

  • GOODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • @lifeson46 its true

  • @milkygear you sick twat

  • A huge prize for you for giving us Bernard Fowler's name. Realy, thank you. One day, someone says RyuIchi Sakamoto made a lot for the rise of nu-soul as a genre.
