Had a ~LOT~ of requests for this one!

The spectacular stallion Jus de Pomme is seen here winning the individual Gold metal in the 1996 Centennial Olympic games in Atlanta.

Underdog of the Gold metal-winning German team, Jus de Pomme and Ulrich Kirchhoff were the only horse/rider combination to complete both rounds of the individual showjumping phase with no jumping (and only a few time) faults. Four-fault horses/riders would later compete in an exciting jumpoff; won by Switzerland's Willi Melliger (who you may recognize from the "Bareback Puissance" video) aboard Calvaro V, and followed by Alexandra Liederman aboard Rochet M, for the Silver and Bronze, respectively.

The video concludes with the memorable and heartwarming victory lap, which saw Kirchhoff release Jus de Pomme to gallop freely around the Georgia International Horse Park, while he (Kirchhoff) proudly held his medal and flag for all the world to see. This is how most of the world last saw him: proud, and at the top of his game-- as this magnificent stallion died very shortly after this video was taken.

Listen to the crowd at 1:22 !!
...also, check out the woman in the muumuu at 1:32 , love it LOL!!!

RIP Jus de Pomme (1986-1996)... had you not been taken from the world so young, you truly would've lived on as one of the greatest of the greats.

As always, don't forget to check out the crazily-cute baby of the barn:

  • @jollyjumpersgirl

lol, he was named by his owner's toddler

  • amazing i expecially love how this horse looks so proud of himself with everyone cheering, he looks like he's enjoying it so much, and i think he did! and q sorry but where where these held because the last jump looks like the Sydney Harbour Bridge with the Aussie flag inside it and Boomerangs, but that was the 2000 Olympics wasn't it, sorry but yeh where was it held?

  • @2101lovelilly

That Fence was in celebration of the upcoming Olympics in Sydney, 2000.

This venue is clearly the Georgia International HorsePark... and even a 3second Google search will tell you that Jus de Pomme won gold in 1996 Atlanta, not 2000 Sydney. ;)

  • Hi, is it possible to make some videos with Alexandra Liederman and Rochet M ? I can't find any at all on the net...

  • @kasmild

I do have several clips of Rochet M at both the Olympics and the World Equestrian Games.

I'll put them up eventually... but am currently experiencing a software issue, so cannot upload anything currently until it's corrected.
