Street scenes of a German city so wrongly airbrushed from the map of the world. Danzig was taken away from Germany by the Versailles Peace Treaty in 1919 against the wishes of its people. Against its will, it was a small powerless state or enclave on the German Baltic coast, in between East Prussia (Ostpreußen) and the Versailles Polish Corridor. The Polish Corridor was an area of former German territory annexed into the newly created state of Poland. It gave Poland a narrow strip of Baltic coastline sandwiched in between German Pommerania (Pommern) and Danzig. In the 1920s it was well known that Polish nationalists were demanding the annexation of "yet more" German territory.so that the Poles could push their border westwards to the Oder or beyond.
Included in these demands were all of the eastern provinces of Germany and cities such as Breslau, Stettin, Danzig, Elbing, Allenstein and Königsberg. All were to become part of a "Greater Poland"
Danzig was a 97% German city on which Poland had no territorial claim.
Yet according to the Polish version of history Danzig was "invaded" on 1st September 1939.
Although a full-blooded German city just like Hamburg, Danzig was in every way an international port and the Poles were guaranteed full access.
German proposals to make Danzig a free international port but to return it to Germany were rejected by the Polish military dictatorship.

This newsreel show how the Free City of Danzig, under the auspices of the League of Nations did not work. It was placed that way so both Germany and Poland could not have possession of it. A city cannot be internationalized. This situation applies to Jerusalem today. How is it going to be divided between Israelis and Palestinians? It is simple; it simply cannot. The Palestinian Authority is not going to have any other choice, but make Ramallah their capital.

if danzig was 760 years long polish, so a Polish city, then Königsberg und Breslau (450 years German), are also German towns !

Dreckiger, abgefuckter scheiss Nazi Missgeburt. Du bist 100% ein Ossi, oder?

@Elberiver11 U should learn history not nazi propaganda books. Why u germans talk only about 19 and 20 century.Gdańsk was polish for 760 years and prussian for 240.Look at all history not only at last one or two ages. They were expelled because Germany were invaders and all of them were kicked out.Poles hated Germans and it is german fault not Polish. At war always innocent victims are hurt.Germans had to be expelled after what german nation did to us.
