Folk Instruments Of Kashmir Tumbaknaer is one of the most popular instruments used in the folk music similar to the central asian instrument tumbak is a very ancient instrument used in various cultures
Thnx for the reply! I too am aware n know that Tumbaknaer is a FOLK instrument. @ opus88888 Old man can be too good but the presentation in the vedio is at all not adding to Tumbaknaer's introduction. Let me tell all on this thread that this is purely a KASHMIRI instrument and the same is still in RAW form it was created. The name sound of this inst is perfectly indicating its ROOTS to the soil of KASHMIR. One can say that it travelled to rest of the world from KAshmir not reverse of it. Aahee!
Seems you have mind what I have posted a year ago. My comment is for the total creation of this video and at few places about the player as well. You have addressed me as an EXPERT so I must tell you that the famous songs from Radio Kashmir: Hatai Vesy Charu Nai Log AshkNaras sung by Arti n Shamima Dev, Amy Yery Karnas Bambarey sung by Vijay Malla n Kailash Mehra and Dyaku Doony Mo Phutrav sung by me with Pakistani singer Malika Pukhraj on DD Srinagar were accompanied by me on Tumbaknaer, Aahi
It's interesting to see a Turkish/Middle Eastern instrument being played in Kashmir. The technique and rhythms are totally different, but I'm fascinated. I wonder how and when this drum made it to this part of the world. The silk rout and the eastern expansion of Islamic culture no doubt.
The creator of this vidoe is requested to invite some appropriate player as this vidoe did not add any charm to this subject instead degrade by the poor performance of the artiste n video creator. Hope you understand this in the best interests of Kashmiri folk music which is otherwise so rich and harmonious. Also some misguided ppl have brought poltics into this page maligns the bright idea of promoting the folk music of Kashmir. Blessings!

@daliplangoo This is folk music, not semiclassical music. The old man is good on tumbak for folk music.
