@MrArche0 is not underrated at all, it is just harder to find goog voices nowadays!! Miss Quivar have gold in her cords!! a voice like that comes every 100 years!!

Why there are so few contraltos actually doing that role? Well indeed the voice type is rare and the opera itself also little rehearsed, but... the role was for contralto not mezzo [though Quivar is a some kind of in-between voice so she does the work awesomely],so why they don't use it for reforce their vocal repertoire instead of runing into higher mezzo roles?
I still don't know why Luisa Miller is so underrated.

Non c'è tensione, non c'è inquietudine nella voce della Quivar. Vi prego di sentire questo stupendo duetto nell'esecuzione di Shirley Verrett, Inoltre Federica non è un Mezzosoprano, è un Contralto, e questo dovrebbe sentirsi. Anche la Verrett non è certo un Contralto, ma rimedia con la sua voce (giovanissima, quando incise la Luisa) black. La parte finale del duetto «Arma se vuoi la mano» esige delle note puntate, non il legato monotono e un po' "grasso" che fanno Domingo e la Quivar.

One of my most favourite mezzo-sopranos!!! Oh I want to meet her so badly!! She has such a delicious velvety chocolate voice!!!
