Is this the band that I saw in a pub "The Green Man" in Plumstead, S.E.London in the late 60's. Certainly brings back great memories of those days. I think the great Max Collie, who also played there, had something to do with their tour. Thursday nights have never been the same since. Great band. Thanks for letting me hear them again.

Your memory ain't that good though Mr Purser...Judith Durham never sang with the Yarra's.

Just noticed the photo of the cover that you posted with 'Oriental Man' and it reads "pianist" mine definitely reads "painist". ... I think I like my copy better.

Hey MrPurser, had you noticed that the information on the back cover of 'THE RED ONIONS AT HOME' EP that contains this number, states that they had added Ian Clyne, a "painist"
... I wonder if that was a genuine typo, or some of the tongue in cheek fun that we remember from them.

STILL BRILLIANT MUSIC. STARTED SEEING THEM AT HALL IN NEPEAN HIGHWAY BRIGHTON, ONLY THREE STREETS FROM HOME AND WALKED THERE TO SEE THEM. GREAT THEN AND GREAT NOW

I have 3 EP's and 3 albums - "Self-titled", "Hot Red Onions" and "Big Band Memories"
Aaah Yes! ... The Onion Patch at Oakleigh RSL.
Free Passes obtained at Oakleigh High School. every week we would fight our way past the rockers at the Masonic Hall opposite - Duffle coats, dessert boots (all preferably black), great music, gorgeous girls and the crowd just smiled, laughed and danced all night ... At least that's the way I remember it.

@anOZTRAYLian - and your memory isn't that bad - a simpler time ( apart from dodging the neandethals ) without alcohol and drugs - great bands and great music - as well as the Onions and John Hawes, I remember seeing Judy Durham out front with the Yarra Yarra boys - what a magical singer - Judy Jacques was good but never an equal. Glad you're enjoying the music.
