Bedside Reporting at SSM DePaul

Nurses at SSM DePaul Health Center demonstrate the new 'Bedside Reporting' process. It is the result of a year-long study. Nurses wanted to know if doing their patient hand-off report in the patients room was more beneficial to the patient. The answer, found in increased patient satisfaction, was a resounding YES.

The revised reporting process, now conducted at bedside, allows for increased collaboration, daily goal setting, and active patient involvement. The goal was not only to improve patient satisfaction, safety, and participation, but also to improve the efficiency of nursing report.

As a result of this study, revised processes are now being implemented at all of our hospitals across SSM Health Care St. Louis.
