Ultima VI played on a Intel Pentium 166MMX, which contained a borrowed Innovation SSI-2001 card from Penya (http://www.youtube.com/user/Penya666) This "prehistoric" sound card features a MOS 6581R4, made in the 6th week of '87. And yes, it's the same IC used in early Commodore 64 computers.

    Any chance you could make a recording directly from the output connector?

    Someone from VOGONS has built a SSI-2001 clone based on some guess work ... would be cool to compare how close he got.
