a Huge example of Mary Sue is Alice from the Resident evil movies. She is not from the original movie and the original characters are demoted into sidekicks in her favor.

it seems almost impossible to avoid writing mary- sues. on all the fiction sights, every female lead you come across is a mary- sue. and all the guys are just perfect gary- stu edward cullen- style rip- offs.

Also (cause I ran out of room last time), I couldn't agree with you more about the popularity of Sues. I go on this one site and in the Hetalia fandom there is a character for Alaska. She is definitely the biggest Mary-Sue I have ever seen (and I've read My Immortal) and yet she is one of the most popular people in the fandom on this particular site. I've never understood how nobody can see the excessive Sue-dom I see flooding from every pore of this awful character.

After hearing that list I thought of an original fiction character I wrote a story with almost four years ago... Whenever I think of her I get really embarrassed because she is quite the Mary-Sue, and now I go over my characters at least five times along with trying out online quizzes for Mary-Sue testing and watching videos such as this. I think that nothing really helps me be Sue-proof more than having a past character be a Sue. It gives me the motivation to never repeat that mistake again....

There's enough of that online-- Google "Marissa Amber Flores Picard" for tomes and tomes of fan-made ridicule of actual fanfic revolving around a character which has been titled "The ultimate Mary Sue..." essentially she becomes a teenage Starfleet admiral, as well as princess of her own planet.... I can't even stand to think about it.
