@sweetanu101 may be you don't know tamil very well. If Tamilian ARR can compose great song in hindi, he could very well make an excellent singer sing in Tamil for the same tune..
He made Sheraya Goshal sing in Tamil; she doesn't speak Tamil

@Beautyjunkie9087 The person was referring to the singer, not the composer. Bela Shende's voice is lighter and softer, it suited Jodhaa more than this singer. Both are lovely, but I agree, the prayer is more touching in hindi because of Bela's voice.
