I own the very first 22' Apache made, #001 and keep it at TNT marina. It is the best handling 22 ft boat on the water. I have had it redone a few times and still get thumbs up when I take it out.

Highvelocity123 is fat and bloated.

Like I said, there are ONLY a few who know. I also worked for Velocity before Apache. My 22' would hit 88MPH before getting blowout, with a stock 300...I doubt any Velocity would see those numbers. The boats that "we" rigged in our day ran great - ask the man who owned Red Thunder.

@knotproper I agree the Apache is a rough water boat, but it's not even close on the flat water with equal power. I am running 73.1MPH with a 225 EFI 3.0L,,,My friend Alex just hit 76MPH with a 300x on his 22 Apache. We figure my 22Velocity is about 3-500 pounds lighter than his 22Apache.

Brian, is that you? Long time...those were the days. And some of the stories we can tell would leave people in disbelief! Remember Frankies boat when i was testing engine height? I know what the mangroves look like up close and personal. Send me an email at McCaffertee@gmail.com i

This Apache was very light and could outrun the Velocity in both smooth and rough as it was dialed in and setup by me and a guy named Brian who owned Red Thunder - him and I spent hours on most every boat to make sure they made each owner beyond happy. Brian had a "special" touch and a dedication that i have not seen since. I have since lost touch, but him and I were very dedicated to the success of the small Apache brand.
Those WERE some fun times! And the stories.....whoa!

What a great time we had in the 80's. What happened that we don't see these races anymore? I have a 21 Cig with a 300 V8 Rude with the Latham steering from this era. Makes me smile every time I take her out and drop the hammer. If anyone has more video's of these boats please post them so the next generation can see what it was like back in the day.

@6104jimmy
Check with freeze frame i only had the video of our boat....or try to get in touch with the guy who ran it, i think his name was scott something and he worked with Cig for a while....make a post on OSO. Scott Smith may have his number as they worked together. Scott is involved with a new boat company last i heard. Sorry can't help you more, but Scott should be your best lead!
