How good any person with good sense think the Garifuna were NOT primarily African ?!? Just look and listen to them. It makes them us ( African Americans do this too) look delusional to clim being mainly native American. Nothing is wrong and everything is good about being African the birthplace of humanity. @Gentilejedi First of all, no they wouldnt. Secondly, there are MILLIONS of ricans and dominicans who look just like us. Thirdly the"example" of rican or dominican you are giving, is of either PURE BLOOD caribs/arawaks/tainos, or the ones that have admixture of european. You are not talking about afro-rican, afro-dominican. who by your way of thinking if they were to look as we do you would write off as PURE african so your point is moot.

@Gentilejedi DNA studies have shown us to be 74%African, 22.8% amerindian, 2.2% european. You are failing to realize that the native tribes that we mixed with already possessed very so called " african" features, as far as full lips, wide noses, etc etc. It would only take a few generations of mixture for the dominant traits to take over.

@Gentilejedi DNA studies have been done on Garinagu throughout the diaspora and results came back as 74%African,22.8%Amerindian,and 2.2%European. Of course this mary vary from person to person as these are just averages. The same study showed that some of our Garinagu people have more european blood than the so called Latinos that live in the same areas as us!

@azar78345able They have more than dark skin, they are predominately African in phenotype. African Americans look admixed, not these people. Sorry, but I cannot see any Amerindian admixture in the least bit. They don't look nothing like a *zambo.* I'm not saying it is not there, just that it is a very small component. Their halopgroups I would believe would show African, YDNA and mtDNA.
