On October 16th, 2010, we took a trip to Galesburg, IL. Along the way, we strayed a bit off course, to check out the old IC&E's Nahant Yard, in Davenport, IA. Upon arriving at Nahant, I saw the headlight of an approaching eastbound, which turned out to be a UP coal train.

After waiting around for a while, I saw the headlight of another eastbound. This one turned out to be a manifest, entering the yard.

It was then off to Galesburg. After making its station stop, Amtrak 4, the inbound/eastbound Southwest Chief, departs Galesburg and heads for Chicago.

Smell that brand new paint! An out of the box, BNSF ES44C4, is making its maiden voyage, west, nearing downtown Galesburg, IL.

After seeing these two BNSF MAC's making their way east through Galesburg, we headed east of town, to get them throttling up with their heavy load of coal.

Time for a good old pace! The road paralleled the tracks for a nice distance. Hearing the run 8 sound of those two MAC's was delightful. I wasn't driving. Near the end of the video clip, the eastbound MAC's met a westbound empty coal train, powered by another pair of MAC's (8937 and Ex-BN Executive 9807).
After the pace, we pulled over to get one last shot of the MAC's. Nice horn salute from the engineer.
Great video
