@TarlaTorres6012 oh, and some good food/treats always helps break the ice in their new home.

lots of love, attention, and affection. Ample time outside of the cage, lots of toys, etc. Make them feel like they are an equal member of the family, not a pet. They are very intelligent and need to be stimulated mentally and loved. Thank you for rescuing him/her/ :-)

I have a question. I'm receiving a African Green Parrot this week and he was mistreated and is partially bald on his stomach. He suffers from anxiety and tends to chew on his feathers and pluck them out. Normally I great with abused birds but I've never tended to a parrot. Do you have any suggestions in caring for him?

I love seeing birds take baths. They seem so happy! Bodhi is super cute! It's incredibly hard to break a bird from the habit of feather plucking, so I applaud you!

-.- I personally don't buy birds that have ever been clipped.. i find it cruel.. i know its painless and they grow back but the bird is less happy without the ability to fly.

Actually, because of CITES, there are no more imported birds, and haven't been since the mid 90s. All the babies you get today are captive bred and most will have closed bands. Older birds with open bands may very well have been wild caught. However, there are plenty of adult birds, both wild caught and domestically raised that need homes, so adoption is better if it is an option.
