You know, I'm no cool artist type but I immediately felt like I understood the point of the tied hands. In the song, the woman sings of being no one until someone loves you. She also seems to be putting up with the guy ignoring her, mostly, for video games - despite her putting on his favourite dress and perfume.

But it sounds like she's putting up with crappy treatment so she has *someone*, is validated. The tied hands indicate her being tied down by the poor relationship, IMO. Just my take. :)

Love Amanda, Lana & chiptunes, but this is almost unlistenable. The 8-bit trainwreck ruined this song.

WHY?!I will tell you geniuses: She (Amanda) likes the song. To everyone, she simply likes the song. Not a huge statement. Maybe it means nothing to her, but she heard it at one point and it spoke to her. She enjoyed it so she wanted to spread it to people like me, who have never heard of Lana Del Rey in their lives. I am so glad that this song is apart of me now. I can't imagine any result Amanda would want more. All this speculation is absurd, "riding youtube fame". Pish posh.

Interesting. I don't know very much about Elizabeth Grant or her Lana Del Rey persona, but what you're saying makes sense.

To add to what I said some time ago, I didn't necessarily mean Grant/Del Rey herself was this person as many times artists aren't relating their own personal experiences as they happened, but perhaps a composite of several people/situations.

Thanks for the reply; interesting thoughts. :)

That was the point of Elizabeth Grant's 'Lana Del Rey' persona. She's a pathetic, tragic, masochistic character, and Born To Die is really a concept album based on that.
