Scarborough says this is not the first time Americans were engaged and excited in record numbers for a president. Four years ago the Evangelicals turned out in record numbers to support President Bush.
Sorry Joe, but this election WAS a choice between hope and fear. It didn't have to be that way, but McCain based his entire campaign on fear, even worse than Bush did. Bush based his 2004 campaign on fear of terrorism. But McCain based his on fear of Obama. He did all kinds of things to engender fear, bordering on hatred, of Obama. Calling him a socialist, a terrorist, "not like us". Palin talking of good America vs bad America, etc. They tried to paint Obama as an enemy of the state.
I think perhaps you could ask yourself the same question. You're doing nothing but belittling the country and surely that does nothing but create an even greater negative effect. As I said, if you don't like it here so much, feel free to leave, but I feel like your comments, while you are entitled to them, do a great disservice to yourself and the rest of your military brethren. That's just my opinion, take it or leave it....
What solution do you offer - Hiding from the problem?
What patriotic deed have you performed?
I fought in 3 war conflicts; today I have to visit the VA Hospital once a month or more for medical care as a direct result of my ill-founded patriotism
The longest America has gone without bombing someone: 2years
Great for you, but since it sounds like you don't want to be a part of a solution, why don't you go to your other country and quit seeking to bring us down. You should be ashamed to even end your post with those last two lines. You're no different than those who helped us get to this low point in our history.
1. The choice WAS between Fear as demonstrated by the Palin rhetoric, and Hope as demonstrated by the continued vision for a greener, more socially just nation. There can be no credible argument about those two campaigns' stark contrasts. 2. Did these joyous evangelicals have a positive vision for our nation? Why didn't they stop US torture? Why didn't they stop US occupation? Why didn't they pressure more help for the poor? I'll tell you, because they were and are HATERS.
Joe's argument is ridiculous. Supporters of Bush being engaged and empowered by their own candidate? How is that even a point, it's just stating the plain obvious. How can be account for evangelicals and red supporters changing to vote for Obama? It has more significance than a previous inability to mobilise the blue base.
So sad, that these seemingly intelligent people, have failed to sufficiently question their realities to see through the circus that calls itself a democracy.
This will change, but I fear that the change will be one that is no more than a change in pace of all the Bush regime has laid the foundations for.
We are all going to have a very bumpy ride over the next few years and it will seem like only a second has passed when the majority of American people wake to see the gates close around them.
