this was the time when steffi is so focused and driven
notice how she's goin for every shot whether she's up or down in a game
notice how she's attackin even martina's first serve
it was the pre-media-tabloid-hullabaloo(was it spring 1990 that scandal about her father came out? ) that purposely disrupted her concentration
she was never ever the same
im glad she recovered a bit in the mid 90's

At 3:52, Steffi shows off her best serve. The serve outwide to the AD court. The serve a twist or kick serve. Hard to tell which one. Both serves have a topspin component. From the front, you can see how square Steffi is on the finish, with the racquet pausing at the end on the right side.

At 3:17, Steffi demonstrates why her slice backhand was not a defensive shot. Yes, one can pass with a slice backhand, provided one is as aggressive on the shot as Steffi is. What an angle and what bite on the shot.
