after entering your scramble config' apply the alg' in stages & observe what's happening to the cube.

In the 8:55 cross case you could also use the orange edge as your 1º one and do:
R' U' L' R U2 B U'
You are making the red edge good by placing it in the B layer. Just another nice way to solve that cross.
