This posting marks the 10th anniversary of when Jim Shaw and Sandy Kramer Shaw invited friends over to their home for a years end performance from Detroit's beloved Uncle Jessie. Greg Cartwright accompanied him on several numbers. It were a beautiful evening. Uncle Jessie passed away at the age of 87 early in 2008. He grew up in Mississippi, and began performing publicly in Jackson, MS. He moved to Detroit in the 1950s and performed regularly around town until his demise. He was truly a treasure, and an inspiration on Detroit's music scene throughout many decades. This posting hopes to honor him, and to share his delight. With Jim Shaw passing a year ago, we aim to celebrate how much Jim gave to the music scene in Detroit, and at large. This video offers a window into that, for those that haven't had the pleasure of knowing him. Those of us who knew Jim, know how fortunate we are for having known him. It is something one cannot forget. It is treasure. See the 'Shaw' video we made with the Reigning Sound for Scion AV. Greg Cartwright wrote the song in honour of Jim.
