Video evidence that two passengers left the stranded Air India flight 131 bound for Heathrow London from Mumbai after being held against their will for 8 hours by Air India. The two passengers stayed on the tarmac at Gatwick airport unmolested because of a flagrant breach of security by Air India. The two frustrated passengers carried their hand luggage around for 30 minutes in hopes that if arrested they would get medical attention, food, water and clean toilet facilities from authorities. The UK authorities informed one of the passengers that he could stay on the tarmac, but because of security no video footage was allowed. West Sussex Police then attended disturbances inside the aircraft leaving one of the passengers outside. The Captain of the flight refused to speak to police but the officers stayed with the passengers until a replacement crew arrived several hours late.

There was no alcohol served on the flight so mass intoxication was not a contributing factor to the chaos.

Doubts have been raised over the condition of the aircraft's instrumentation as other flights were allowed to land at Heathrow during the same time period.

Possible trouble with Air India finances are also suspected with one of the cabin crew stating that they had not been paid for two months but are still supporting the airline.

  • The reason being you have to go through immigration before you are allowed landside and that is ususally not allowed at any other airport except your destination airport even if it is the same city. Heck Virgin and British Airways flights headed for Heathrow do not allow passengers to deboard at Gatwick. And they have presence at Gatwick. Unlike an airline like Air India that has no presence and no staff at that airport.

So a very bad situation for passengers, but not the airlines fault.

  • @mansees Please get a life that doesn't involve this video, it's old news.

  • This is a very smart attempt is to make an airline look bad. And the way its presented with biased questions like "Do you think Air India will compensate you ?" just made me laugh.

The reality of the situation in London airspace there are quite a few times when aircraft headed for Heathrow is diverted to Gatwick due to unforseeable circumstances like bad weather, closure of runways for other flights for emergency landings and such, there is not much any airline can do about it.

  • @mansees If you were there you wouldn't be so smug.

  • WHY IS HE ASKING HIS MOTHER "WHY CAN'T WE LEAVE?"

  • this is insane. I'm a bit confused why you guys were not allowed to take off.

  • @tuppyhuh

I have been in a similar albeit worse situation. And its not a good situation. And the irony was that airline (BA) had infrastructure at that airport to help us. But chose not to.

  • NOT MY PROUDEST MOMENT ON BEING AN INDIAN
