  • @diypowercompany No. Now, I pay a professional to put a system on my roof with a grid tie in. This was just research.

  • Can you please help me with my multitester. When I check my cells on what dial do I put my multitester? I see two volt settings one with a V~ and a V-with 3 dashes underneith. Are these cells ativated by light or Sunlight. What I mean is will a bulb give me less watts than the sun will??

  • @TheSignGuy32 What are you checking your cells for? Voltage? You might have burned a fuse out on the tester. I did it a lot. The cells produce electricity from light. And yes, a bulb will give you less watts than the sun in most cases.

  • @TheSignGuy32 Thanks but the meter is working I just don't know what dial to put it to for a Watts check. I see you spinn the dial from top to the botter, where are you putting it to and were do you put it to check for amp and volts

  • @TheSignGuy32 The meter has markings on the meter for Amps and Volts.

  • @TheSignGuy32 Watts = Amps times Volts.

  • @qcages Nope, I'm not. This was just an experiment to see what I was getting into. It actually cost me more to build this panel than it would to purchase one of similar output. I chose the parallel/series design so that the panel would still run if one cell row was interrupted. I actually took a subsection of this that I duplicated down to Africa and compared the output to that I had in Texas. Got 40% more power in Africa.

  • Cool to see the amount of work you put into that panel, but are you planning on doing any kind of permanent frame for it? You won't be able to leave that outside overnight the way it is, and if you want it to even last a year you're going to need to build a air and moisture tight housing for it.

  • Yeah, I haven't figured out how to measure the output of the charge converter without frying my multi meter, nor how much is lost in going to the battery. It's noticeable though. FYI, I took smaller versions of this to Africa and measured them down there two weeks ago. 1.4 * more amps.
