Osaka castle grounds have great spots especially where the tourists dont know where they are. As for the castle its not the original, that burnt down.

Yes, I agree, the castle is pleasant and looks great lit up at night but, the park its self is more impressive. There are so many different areas; gardens, shrines, places to sit and drink beer, trails to mountain bike and good places to people watch.
For sure, awesome during cherry blossom season.
