He never won a world or even european long course championship. He only performed at short course, which is comparable to indoor athletics (ie nobody cares about it)

The guy is a six time world champion. What are you expecting from him? He's won everything thats out here except the olympics and that can be down to nerves or having a bad day. Seems strange that someone can just sit in their tower and dictate how a proven swimmer should train when they probably have achieved nothing in their own lives. I say again ... six time world champion, 10 time European Champion, 6 time commonwealth champion. And that doesnt touch national champs or silver or bronze

OUCH! I'm an ex-swimmer...and you need to be so dedicated its unreal. Morning practice, day training, evening practice...not sure how much he put in...but if you're right...he should have trained SO MUCH harder ....

He is a fucking idiot. Wasted his monumental talent (on the same scale of Phelps and Thorpe) by not putting even half the effort into his training as he should have.
