Robert Cray is one of my favorite artist. Thank you Robert for showing some class with a timeless song about the war in Iraq with a perspective many people share.

  • Be careful dude. One tour overseas in the oil and gas industry will show you what turns this earth. Oil is it. The war we're in now is for nothing more than cash. Just cash. Young men and women are idealistic, and they join our army's to uphold a higher good. Not to preserve shareholder wealth. Look at the guy in the vid. Does he look like someone who's in a position to understand economics yet? At 20, I had no clue. Robert Cray is a brave guy. An American who Canadians are so proud of.

  • billy8686- There is no doubt that innocent people died on 9/11, but if you're being critical of this song, then save it. Iraq wasn't about 9/11. Cray is singing about the soldier's burden. Being Anti-war doesn't mean you're against the troops. If anything, supporting our troops means using them when it's absolutely necessary and pulling them out of harm's way as soon as we can. This song is as PRO-Troops as you can get. Remember who is fighting and dying for our agendas overseas.

  • So where did this song come from, after all the years of relationship efforts - is this a blatant attempt to cash in on the military audience?

Not even close. Robert grew up in the Tacoma,WA suburb of Lakewood, which gives strong support to our second-largest Army base in Fort Lewis. This outcry to the plight of our American fighting men is undoubtedly from the heart, and his most meaningful song in Cray's long catalog of heart-wrenching masterpieces.

  • @whorewrangler Serve with honor, live with pride. Too many martyrs have fallen so that this country may stand tall.

  • @kbuchanan120 You da man! Even though we've never met, I respect the hell outta ya. Thank you for your service to this great country of ours.

  • Respond to this video... This song is about the emotional baggage you bring back with you. Watching your friends blown to pieces, watching them die saving your life and the guilt that goes along with it. Sometimes it is too much when you get back and the only relief is suicide. That is why you see the guy step off of the bus at home and then see the picture on the boots at the end.

  • This song almost brings tears to my eyes. Got to see him preform this song this summer and it made me think of all my brothers and sisters who have served in the great sand box. God bless our troops! Make it home safe, look me up, and I'll buy you a beer.

  • Michael Moore is filthy rich!!!! Talk about calling the kettle black!!!

  • @mickeyb1000 - Oil? LOL! Just keep to the Party Line's rote, comrade, no matter how ludicrous!

  • So many capitalism-hating responses. All miss the point on this song and video. What do we do with the young whom want to follow in their ancestors' footsteps and give to their country? It may have several other agendas, but in the end it's about young men dying.

Robert Cray is one of my biggest idols.

  • @billy8686 You think the Iraq war and occupation had a damn thing to do with 9/11? Get educated son, open your fucking eyes- it was all about oil.
