Still have a crush on Johnny Maestro!
-
When I put this video clip onto YouTube, I wanted to make sure I kept the intro by Cousin Brucie, since he talks about Johnny's great voice and how he still had it. I saw Johnny perform 5 times in recent years, and was always amazed how he still sounded just as he did 50 years ago. To paraprase a line in "Pretty Little Angel" --- I know voices like this come once in a lifetime. Thanks for all the great songs, Johnny.

I was the only 16 yr old having her birthday party at an oldies show just outside South Amboy NJ in the 90's. He was so impressed when he heard me singing along that he asked me to join him in a cover of Little Bitty Pretty One and I was thrilled when he had me and my boyfriend backstage. His voice wasn't his only amazing gift. He miss you Johnny.

Freddy Ferrara passed away on October 21, 2011. This video is special, not only for a terrific performance of three great songs, but you can see Freddy play the trumpet during "Worst That Could Happen".

Thanks for comments, Topaz. Just heard about Freddy a couple hours ago. Saw him with Johnny and Les a number of times. Great singer and nice guy, too. Sad to lose him. He is up there singing with Johnny again.

Wow. You must have great memories of being with Johnny before the Crests. I was lucky enough to see him perform a number of times in more recent years. In speaking with him at those events, he was such a gentleman and great guy, in addition to still having that spectacular voice.

My only reget is that I never met Johnny, he was 12 yrs older than me & very influential in my own Music career, listening to him sing & trying to copy him I see how no one could because he was in a league of his own, I mention him every night I'm on stage & still listen to him every day...Tears roll down my face as I write this & I thank him for everything he's done & if it wasn't for Johnny I may have never became an entertainer.Though I never met you in my heart I call you friend... RIP

Very touching comments. I was lucky enough to see Johnny in concert and talk with him at length a few of those times. A first-class performer and individual, who is really missed. I noticed that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame' s list of nominees for induction for this year has just been announced, and Johnny is not on the list again. Very disappointing.
