1998 interview about research I was doing into the pineal organ - specifically, research into what was being omitted from medical education courses and why.

  • Thanks for the comment, abstract 1968. Plant-derived melatonin has been sold as an over-the-counter treatment for jet lag for many years, and is also being promoted (fraudulently, in my opinion) to prevent cancer and ageing, and dangerously as a sleeping tablet for children. Melatonin, as you would have gathered from the video, is the neurohormone secreted by the pineal organ during the night, and is synthesised from the indole amine serotonin, and is not to be confused with melanin (pigment).

  • its my uneducated understanding, is that adrenalin supresses seratonin to a certain degree - giving rage and agression

is it possible to supress, even more so, to increase adrenalin output? does any of that make sense?

  • hi Doc...love your channel...ive heard where labs are trying to manufacture melanin...is this possible...im a nurse and have noticed an increase in MD orders for melantonin...why would they try to make melanin for purposes other than cosmetic?
