That old familiar edgy feeling began earlier in the day. It's a primal tension, just under the skin, that in the back of the mind "knows" precisely what it means. And, each time it is accompanied with the same quiet thought: keep a close eye outside. When the eerie green tinge crept into the clouds, and the swirling began, we stepped outside to watch for the familiar tail to emerge from the very dark skies above us. Lucky this time, the storm passed over our place, and the tornado touched down just past the McDonalds on I 70. On the ground for 30 minutes, it wreaked havoc and left many damaged homes along the path of this storm.

  • This was taken just west of Lawrence city limits. This is the big cloud that dropped the Turnpike funnel as it moved to the East.
