Selena's Point Of View:

The day dragged on slowly, my parents had their boring tea with the Mayor and complained about the continuous attacks. Demi and Joe spent the day talking in the green house while I was stuck in my room clipping newspaper articles and gluing them into a scrap book. I glued down the last piece and then closed the book. I knew better then to try and figure out what goes on in vampire's minds, but I had to give it a try. Maybe I could figure why they were suddenly not satisfied by the blood substitute. I took the book over to my book shelf and placed it in between my photo albums so no one would see it. As I was walking over to my bed Gracie came in.

"Your parents are wondering if you're going to be attending dinner tonight." She said while putting away my clean clothes.

"I'm feeling sick." I replied, faking a cough.

"In that case I will brew up some beet root soup for you." Gracie smiled at me and I gagged. She knew how much I hated that soup; my parents would always get her to make it for me when I was sick. What was wrong with chicken noodle?

"I have things to do tonight Gracie; I don't want to sit through a three hour dinner."

"I understand, I will bring your dinner up." Gracie finished putting my clothes away and then headed for the door; she opened it and then stopped. "You might want to find a better hiding place for that scrap book as well. Been clipping more newspaper articles?"

My mouth hung open in shock. Gracie looked satisfied with my reaction and took her leave. How is it that she knows everything? Did someone put a camera in my room? I walked over and took the book off the shelf in case Gracie decided to tell my parents. I looked around the room; there were no good hiding spots. If I put it under my bed a maid would find it, the bookcase didn't work , and last time I put it inside my pillow case it hurt my neck while I slept.

I sighed taking one last look around my room before thinking of the perfect hiding place. I hid the book behind my back and left the room heading towards the servant's quarters in the basement. Luckily I didn't pass anyone on my way down. I walked down the cold hall until I reached Demi's room. I pushed the door open and walked in.

"Hey Sel...what are you doing down here?" She asked and I handed the book to her. "Oh."

"Can you hide it in here? I don't want my nosy parents or any of the maids getting their hands on it." I told her.

"I happen to be a maid." She reminded me.

"Yes but your my best friend first." I smiled and she smiled back at me.

"Okay I'll keep it safe." She took the book over to her bed and hid it under the mattress. I wonder why I never thought about that as a hiding place.

"So how was your day with Joe?" I asked, giving her a mischievous smile.

"It was good." She blushed. "He asked me out."

"Aww, you've got a boyfriend." I teased.

"Shut up, he's not my boyfriend...yet." she giggled and I couldn't help but laugh with her. It would be absolutely perfect if Joe and Demi got together, they were a match made in heaven. After we settled down Demi gave me a serious look.

"You haven't been clipping more articles on the vampires right?"

"Yeah I have, so what?" I looked away from Demi knowing that she would be giving me a disapproving look.

"Do you know how dangerous that is? Just let the police handle it."

"I'm not going to do anything about it Demi, I'm just curious." I walked out of the room and back to my room being careful not to pass the dining room. I didn't want my parents roping me into their boring dinner. Once I was safely in my room I saw my dinner sitting on a table by the bed. I took a seat on my bed and began eating. It was nearly dark now and the house was being put on lock down. We lived on the rich side of town and everyone in our neighbourhood had automated security systems that turn on after the sun goes down even though there had been no attacks anywhere near our house. I walked over to the window and watched the last slit of sun disappear. No more than 3 seconds passed before metal blinds snapped shut over the windows, engulfing my room in darkness.
