Sakura was a popular multilingual female singer in the Singaporean go-go/rock scene during the 60s and 70s. On one of her LPs in 60's, she covered James Brown's "Papa's Got a Brand New Bag", which is dominated by a loud fuzz guitar. The Thai surf group, The Quests, provided the rhythm on Mrs. Teng's songs for many years before this. However, some other anonymous band is responsible for this particular LP. Sakura is still alive and kicking. Her daughter, Amy Ting, is an aspiring actress who starred with her mother in an award-winning indy film called 《Miss Wonton》 in 2001.
