Here's a lesson to show you how to play the "groove / slap" type techniques heard in my arrangement of "Superstition".

  • I'm assuming that you can still make the "slap" work without a thumb pick? I can't get used to one and was wondering what your opinion is on the subject of using thumb picks versus not using them? Thanks and keep picking. Love your stuff.

  • @seaside882000 YEs, slap is string hitting frets, not pick hitting string...good luck!

  • About needing to click with thumb and play the open D, why not just pulloff with ur middle finger? Im doing that right now and dont see a problem with it.

  • @santanati That's perfetc - I use both. Rock on!

  • love it

  • I just ordered "the whole enchilada" am very, very excited. Even have some time to play..............

  • Mr Rafferty, the best part of this video is your obvious delight in sharing with people. Do I like your arrangement? Yes, very much. But, I enjoy it more because you enjoy teaching it. This is obvious, and it is a gift. Thank You.

  • @crescentridge hold on.. what tuning is this?

  • when i tried playing this, i realised i was automatically doing something different... you can also play the magical open D and slap by hitting the D string with the back of your right hand fingernails! so the slap and D both come from your right hand. make sure you mute the other strings with your left hand (pinky finger maybe) so you don't hit them and this works!

    great video adam, cheers!

  • it was flawless the other video <3 <3

  • Hey I can do a pluck and slap at the same time without hammering. actually, I learned that from playing "Ebon Coast" of Andy McKee and you'll notice the part that you have to pluck/slap at the same time. :D But hammer is great anw

  • Awesome vid..I just heard you on Sirius satellite radio on the Coffee house station. You are most awesome. I love how they are always playing new artist. Im gonna get your CD ASAP.

  • can you give us more details plz it's so quick
