@MR1227 Were they shooting at the alien standing in front of a missile launch panel? Sort of risky you would think!

BTW, the episode features two items from the James Coburn film "In Like Flint". (1) The space suits worn and (2) the stock footage of the capsule spinning out of control. The interior set is basically the space capsule set from the Jerry Lewis film "Way, Way, Out", slightly redressed. The capsule in the long shots on Venus was a clever matte painting (no miniature work). Don't get me started on the Lanuch Control Room and the other redressed sets of the Seaview. (Made no sense at all!!).

I have the mask to the alien creature. Bought it from a dude who owned the original mold to it many years ago. The eyes are missing since they were not part of the original head-piece. Eyes were separate pieces added on later. The aliens were at least original for VTTBOTS and for once they were never reused on LIS (Hooray!).

Truth be told, I reconstructed the video of this preview by using the same clips from the episode, since my copy of the actual preview was very poor. But the last shot of the preview was a different view of the Seaview running into the ground, taken from a different angle. I could not find the exact same shot in the episode, so I substituted this shot, which is fro the episode. Probably the same action taken from two angles.
Monster of the week. Voyage started out cool but like all Irwin Allen series the stories got absolutely silly. The submarine model and effect was as cool as it could be, but the mosters were absolutely silly.

@49bobbyk They were silly, but these alien suits were pretty cool and, surprisingly, were not used in any other episodes of Irwin Allen series.

LOL! Tooleman! Could you picture Admiral Nelson having to put up with Dr. Smith's antics? I bet he'd have him launched out a torpedo tube at crush depth.!

@65kowalski That's what I wished the Robinsons would do with him, but that would have left most of the second and third seasons without a main character.

I always did think "Journey with Fear" was originally scripted for "Lost in Space." Who would put it past Irwin Allen to make a quick switcheroo for budgetary purposes?

I could see Dr Smith bargaining with the aliens to take him to Earth, who had abducted him to Venus: "It's just one planet over."
Actually, I figured this was left over from The Time Tunnel, which had ended production. I like the aliens. Think I saw one of the head pieces in an eBay auction. The medallions they wear look like the thermostat for our furnace.
