@my02warrior that book was published in 2004. a lot has changed since then buddy. Colombia is very safe...as long as you know where not to go. Just like any country or any city, there are places you just don't go to.

You need to check your mic connection...seems at times there might be interference? maybe too close to your mouth? Great info about Columbia.

@DesmosediciAlice I sold my bike in Argentina and flew home.

@lwkleijn Mixture of hostels (sometimes hotels) and camping

@BIGGByran Yes, trees need CO2. I am actually fallible.

Are the hostels bike friendly? i.e. safe for all your gear on the bike or in your room or somewhere to put the stuff?

@simon44 Hostels and hotels are very bike friendly. I've never had a problem rolling my bike into a secure area.

Very nice to hear "your opinion", on Columbia. It is great that you have not experienced anything negative, but Columbia is worthy of "not letting your guard down." Read Glen Heggstad's book, " Two wheels through terror", where he was enroute Palm Springs to the south tip of Argentina. (He was also on a KLR650). He was kidnapped by the ELN in Columbia, held for 5 weeks. Was released only because they thought he was dying! Read it, then tell us how safe Columbia is!

@my02warrior I did read it. I considered random insurance too. Then I said fuck it.

Did you notice any performance issues w/ the KLR at extreme altitude?

@lwmoss1 Yes, above 13,000 feet my carb was suffocating. I changed out my jet for a 45mm instead of the stock 40mm. Don't quote me on that though. After changing out the $5 part, it rode well at sea level and 14,000 and above in the Andes.
