  • Davie,

Just wondering what the thread that you use in most of your videos is and where you get it. So far in my fly tying career I have had mixed experiences at best with the thread I use. Thanks,

    Elias

  • Hi Elias (eliasp444)

I mostly use Uni-Thread in 8/0 which I can tye most Trout and Salmon Flies, I would think most tackle shops that stock fly tying materials may have some, other threads worth buying are UTC and Danvilles..

    All the best Davie

  • @DavieMcPhail I'm quite new in the fly fishing world and i am still orientating,

so my question. If you could sum up the most essential glues/varnishes wich ones would it be.

    Kind regards Laiho

  • Hi Laiho,

The varnish I would recommend to you would be Hard as Nails very popular with many tyers and for a glue Loctite Easy Brush Superglue is the other I like to use, these would be my choices...

    All the best Davie

  • Hi Davie, quick question. Is there any particular reason you wear the same shirt in all of your videos? Do love you videos though.

  • Hi simpsonfan01,

The blue shirt is a great background so that you can see the fly and as well I feel it reflects the light better..

    All the best Davie

  • En castellano decimos: Prolijo ! Congratulations. Great video.

  • @DavieMcPhail Thanks Davie by the way your videos are amazing and extremely helpful!

  • Hi Sam,

Yes you can send an email to me but could you send it privately please..

I have never used the tape from the golf shops but I have heard other tyers talk about it on forums so that's why I mentioned it. The one I use comes from a company called Veniards, but when you come over I will be able to help you out..

    All the best Davie

  • Hi KILDONNAN,

Nothing wrong with the way you're fishing them it's all down to the weather as I haven't had a good days fishing myself down the river due to the lack of water. I would try and fish it on it's own instead of two but as I said the conditions are crap just now so here's hoping for a bit of rain to freshen things up..

    All the best Davie
